Cardiff's indoor play café for little ones and the grown-ups who bring them.
Tyfu Play is an award winning bi-lingual soft play and role play café in Whitchurch, created by parents, for parents (we’ve got you). Two floors of play, great local coffee, everything made fresh on-site, and small enough that you can see your children at all times.
Our coffee is roasted locally in Swansea, our cakes are baked in-house, and we serve it in handmade ceramics. We wanted the food and drink to feel as considered as everything else here.
Two floors to discover, one calm, one energetic, both brilliant. Downstairs is role play and coffee. Upstairs is soft play, the adventure castle and the slide. It's smaller than you'd expect, and that's exactly the point.
From birthday parties and princess discos to baby showers, we've got a package for it. Full venue hire, party food, and free play included, optional extras like character visits and balloon arches.
From character themed disco events, makers markets, and our very own Tyfu Babis weekly baby sensory group, to supper clubs something's always on. Grab a ticket before they sell out.
Inspired by my girls, Made for every parent
I created Tyfu for my little girls and me, in the hope that other parents wanted the same thing, somewhere smaller, more intimate, and safe, where you can see your little ones at all times and finally relax with a proper coffee.
Tyfu is an extension of me and my home, and that's exactly how I want it to feel when you walk through the door.

Tyfu Play is located at 42a Merthyr Rd, Cardiff CF14 1DJ, on the 1st and 2nd floor of the building.
Parking
There's no parking on site (please do not use the car park outside the Drs Surgery next door, so it's worth building a few extra minutes into your journey. The closest options are:

Local on street parking eg Bishops Road, Ty Newydd. Disabled parking is available on the street outside.
We'd recommend factoring in parking and walking to us into your session time so you get the most play (and coffee) out of your visit.
Prams & buggies
We're upstairs with no lift, so please be prepared if you're bringing a pram, you're welcome to leave it downstairs while you're with us.
Toilets & baby changing
There are toilets and baby changing facilities on the ground floor by the entrance, and on the top floor too.

Yes, all play sessions are booked online in advance to make sure we don't get overcrowded, you can book via our booking page.

We welcome children from newborn right up to age 8. Our soft play is great for babies and toddlers, the role play is loved by children of all ages, and the adventure castle is recommended from age 3 upwards.

There's no parking on site. The closest option is Merthyr Road Pay and Display Car Park, just a couple of minutes' walk, we recommend building that into your journey time.

As a café, we do not permit outside food or drink to be consumed on the premises. This helps us maintain food safety, manage allergens and keep our play spaces clean and safe for everyone.
The exception is food and milk specifically intended for babies and young children who are not yet able to eat from our menu, such as formula, expressed breast milk, baby bottles, purées and age-appropriate weaning food.

Play areas are accessed via stairs, so prams and carriers can be left in our entranceway, just press the buzzer and a member of the team will help.
